For nearly 40 years, The Children's Theatre has introduced young
people to the wonders of the performing arts. As a teaching theatre,
The Children's Theatre is devoted to producing shows by children,
for children. Our season consists of five performances annually,
as well as school year classes and a variety of summer workshops,
including Stage Door, It's Elementary, and the Young Actors Studio.
Recently we reorganized under a new name, Encore Stage & Studio.
This new entity is the umbrella organization under which The Children's
Theatre, Act III, Stage Door, Its Elementary, Young Actors
Studio, and school year drama classes, will operate. It gives our
education program more flexibility to provide the types of opportunities
that parents and children alike have been seeking.
The Childrens Theatre is recognized as a cultural resource
in greater Washington. It is committed to introducing children and
teens to all aspects of the theatre by offering year-round educational
opportunities through performances and classes.
The Childrens Theatre and Encore Stage and Studio are supported
in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Virginia Commission
for the Arts and Arlington County through the Arlington Commission
for the Arts and the Cultural Affairs Division of Parks, Recreation
and Community Resources.
