The Act III Theatre Company was founded in 1985 to provide a fun and challenging summer theatre experience for high school students, college students, and community members. Act III combines a performance opportunity and an educational experience, presenting musical productions that are ideal for children and adults of all ages.
The next production of the Act III Company will be the classic musical Anything Goes in July 2010. Auditions will be held on June 2 and 3 at Gunston Middle School, 2700 South Lang Street, Arlington, VA 22206. An optional Pre-Audition Workshop will also be held from 11:30 am-1:30 pm on May 22, 2010 at Gunston Middle School.
Anything Goes, written by P.G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton, and revised by Russel Crouse and Howard Lindsay, features the classic songs of Cole Porter. Besides the title song, the show introduced such standards as "You're the Top," "I Get a Kick Out of You," and "It's Delovely." The story concerns Billy Crocker, a stowaway on board a luxury ocean liner bound for London. Billy is in pursuit of socialite Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Other passengers in this unusual group include gangster Moonface Martin and nightclub singer Reno Sweeney.
