A Special Two-Week Scene Study Workshop for
Students (Tweens) Ages 10-12 and (Teens) Ages 13-15
This workshop helps teens and "in-betweeners" develop their acting skills while working on contemporary scenes or classic Shakespearean scenes featuring characters that are at their same developmental level. This is an empowering class featuring many skills and experiences that will help actors in the "middle" take on the teen performing years.
The teen scenes are designed with teenagers in mind. Students will work to increase acting skills through work on body and voice Character development will be stressed in the scenes that have been selected for teens, whether from contemporary or classic plays.
Scenes for Teens & Tweens is directed by a staff of professional actors and guest artists who are theatre educators as well. Teens and tweens will learn the processes involved in creating, rehearsing, and performing. They will learn theatre techniques such as:
Acting skills and styles
Improvisation skills
Classic characters and scenes
Contemporary characters and scenes
Vocal and physical characterization
Scenes for Teens & Tweens culminates in a student showcase performance. Performance opportunities may include both scripted scenes from plays and/or musical numbers and/or student written scenes.
Due to the nature of this scene study workshop, and given the two-week time frame in which to work with partners, regular attendance is mandatory.
Late Pickup: Parents will be assessed a $5.00 charge if a child is picked up 15 minutes after class ends and an additional $1.00 per minute thereafter. Please pickup on time.
Session I: June 28 - July 9, 2010 (No class on July 5)

Tuition: $360 for two weeks
Extended Hours Available: Morning (beginning 8:30 a.m.) $75
Afternoon (until 5:30 p.m.) $75

Session II: August 2 - August 13, 2010
Location: Marymount University, Ballston Campus

Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Tuition: $400 for two weeks
Extended Hours Available: Morning (beginning 8:30 a.m.) $75
Afternoon (until 5:30 p.m.) $75
