Scenes for Tweens and Teens (Ages 10-15)
Tall, Timeless, and Terrific Tales!
Reach toward new levels of skill in two weeks!

This can be a difficult time in theatre for students who are not quite kids and not quite teens. The tweens can use this time to enhance their acting skills, learn audition techniques specific to their age group, and work on scenes featuring characters at the same developmental stage as themselves. This is an empowering class that will help actors in the "middle" take on their teen performing years with valuable skills and experience.

The teen scenes are designed with teenagers in mind. Students will explore acting technique through movement and voice. Character development will be stressed in the scenes that have been specifically selected for them.

Each age group will sharpen their acting skills as they examine scripted scenes from classical works, tall tales, and their own imaginations. Additionally, they will create and stage pieces using original choreography. Our small classes ensure individual attention for each student. There will be a final sharing for friends and family on the last day.

Due to the nature of this scene study workshop, and given the two-week time frame in which to work with partners, regular attendance is mandatory.

This program is directed by a staff of professional actors and guest artists who are theatre educators as well. Students will come to understand the processes involved in creating, rehearsing, and performing. They will learn theatre techniques such as:

  • Acting skills and styles
  • Improvisation
  • Contemporary characters and scenes
  • Vocal and physical characterization

Scenes for Tweens & Teens culminates in a student showcase performance. Performance opportunities may include scripted scenes from plays, musicals, and student-written scenes.
