Comedy Tonight!
Three weeks of summer; a lifetime of experience.
Location:
Williamsburg Middle School
3600 North Harrison Street
Arlington, VA 22207
Stage Door is a three-week experience that will inspire and enrich your child for a lifetime! Guest artists will perform and teach Stage Door students skills such as musical theatre, acting, characterization, and stage combat. These workshops culminate in a student showcase performance.
This exciting opportunity is for young artists grades 5-9.
This summer our theatre conservatory will focus on the many facets of comedy. Students will explore everything from improvisation to comic timing, musical comedies of the past and present, stand-up, and even a Shakespeare comedy mash-up! With an emphasis on creativity and collaboration, Stage Door provides hands-on opportunities for students to partake in all aspects of theatre production.
Stage Door is directed by a staff of energetic professional teaching artists who are passionate about education and ready to help the students explore the performing arts. They are actors, dancers, and educators who are experienced in working with students of all abilities and are dedicated to helping the young performers hone new skills.
Actors and guest artists will perform and teach Stage Door students skills such as musical comedy, creating characters, scene study, various dance styles, vocal projection and singing, improvisational skills, physical comedy, and general technical theatre.
Stage Door culminates in a student showcase performance. Performance opportunities may include improvisations and scripted scenes from comedic plays and musical comedies both past and present.
Extended hours are available for an additional fee. For details, see the Application Form available here. (Do not use an Arlington County Camp Registration Form.)
